INDUSTRY INVOLVEMENT

The One-U RAI seeks industry partnerships through multiple mechanisms:

  • Industry Consortium: The One-U RAI will establish an industry consortium to facilitate public-private partnership and provide a forum of open discussion and sharing with the overarching goal of collectively advancing responsible AI and its positive impacts on the State and society broadly. The consortium will facilitate the discussion of crosscutting issues and challenges, share research ideas and results, develop shared priorities and best practices, and explore synergies and partnerships.
  • Research Partnerships: The One-U RAI welcomes research collaborations involving industry, other universities, and governmental entities. Such collaborations may pursue multidisciplinary translational research on a range of research areas related to responsible and equitable AI design, development, and deployment. Such partnerships may also include seeking funding from federal entities with industry partnership and support.
  • Students Internships: The One-U RAI encourages industry to participate in providing business case studies for classroom education, classroom speaking opportunities, and career fairs to engage with students, potentially resulting in co-ops, internships, externships, and employment prospects. Industry partners may also provide undergraduate/graduate scholarship opportunities for students to engage with One-U RAI.
  • Distinguished Visitors Program: Aligned with the One-U RAI’s goal of attracting the best talent to the University and the State, an important element of the initiative is bringing leading scholars, faculty fellows, and other experts from all sectors to the University for short-term as well as extended visits. The One-U RAI welcomes industry sponsorship of these important engagements.
  • Shared Cyberinfrastructure: The One-U RAI welcomes industry partnerships in establishing an open, shared, and equitably accessible cyberinfrastructure, including computing and storage, shared datasets and models, software and tools, educational and training content, and virtual and physical experimental spaces (e.g., living laboratories) to advance and accelerate translational research and development in responsible AI.
  • Industry Convenings: The One-U RAI plans to organize regularly scheduled convenings that will include experts from industry, government, and academia including researchers, students, practitioners, etc. These convenings will provide an opportunity for constituents to connect with each other on topics related to responsible AI, with the goal of stimulating the sharing of ideas and fostering collaborations.
  • Community Outreach: Engaging with the broader community on issues related to responsible AI and its impacts is integral to the One-U RAI, and we seek industry partnership in achieving this goal. We anticipate an abundance of opportunities for industry partners to serve on panels at the University and in the broader community, as well as to organize joint events on related topics.
