One-U RAI Annual Awards Program
Nominations due September 20, 2026Each year, the University of Utah One-U Responsible Artificial Intelligence Initiative (One-U RAI) will recognize three individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing responsible AI. Awards will be presented at the annual symposium and publicized broadly.
Campus-Wide Awards

Recognizes a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow whose work advances responsible AI research, implementation, or societal impact in alignment with the vision and mission of One-U RAI. Nominees must be a current or recent (within the last year) graduate student or postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utah and should have demonstrated engagement toward the responsible use, development, or deployment of AI in their research. No affiliation with One-U RAI required.

Recognizes a faculty member whose scholarship significantly advances responsible AI theory, practice, policy, or societal implementation, in alignment with the vision and mission of One-U RAI. Nominees must be full-time faculty, including tenure and career-line faculty, at the University of Utah with research impacting broader societal, regulatory, or community efforts. No affiliation with One-U RAI required.
Internal Award

Recognizes a recent or current One-U RAI committee member who has demonstrated sustained, high-impact service and leadership toward advancing the vision and mission of One-U RAI. This includes contributions to One-U RAI programming and facilitation of cross-campus collaboration. Nominees must be current faculty or staff at the University of Utah.
Nomination Process
Self-nominations are allowed with an encouragement for peer nominations. Nominations should be supported with a one-page statement highlighting the nominee’s contributions in alignment with the award selection criteria. Nominations will be due September 20, 2026.
