This Special Interest Group (SIG) is focused on helping organizations use artificial intelligence in a safe, responsible, and practical way. We take a broad approach, offering guidance on leadership, risk, policies, training, and long-term planning. Our goal is to break down the complexity of AI into clear steps that make sense for organizations of all sizes.
Our work includes resources to help organizations set up the right leadership, understand and manage risks like bias or data misuse, create policies for how AI can and should be used, and build the skills teams need. It also provides ways to measure whether efforts are working and how to prepare for future changes as technology evolves.
So far, the team has made strong progress by drafting policies, outlining risk frameworks, and designing early tools for assessing readiness and training needs. We are building examples specific to sectors like healthcare and are developing a plan to share these resources more broadly. Looking ahead, our goal is to support ethical innovation, help teams stay future-ready, and make sure organizations feel confident using AI in a way that aligns with their mission and values.
For leaders: the AI Leadership Blueprint
Utah's Responsible AI Community Consortium has released the 2026 edition of its AI Leadership Blueprint, a practical, step-by-step guide for organizations adopting and managing AI responsibly. This year the consortium's Workforce Development & Education Special Interest Group is also launching two free resources for individual workers: Get Started with AI and Utah AI Workforce Stories.
"Last year we gave leaders a playbook. This year we're also speaking directly to the people doing the work," said Kevin Williams, founder and CEO of AscendAI and co-chair of the Workforce SIG. "Most Utah workers don't need to become AI experts. They need a clear place to start and proof that people like them are already doing it."

The Workforce Development & Education Special Interest Group of the Utah Responsible AI Community Consortium is collecting first-person accounts of AI at work, starting in Utah but built to resonate nationally. Individuals, not companies. Friction and all.
Explore. Real stories from Utah’s workforce, in their own words: an architect, a grant writer, a law firm’s data lead. The fear, the friction, and what changed.
Share your story. Leave your name and we will reach out. You choose the format: a thirty-minute coffee conversation, a typed form on your own time, or a voice walkthrough. Nothing publishes without your review and the committee’s.
Community Contributor. The Community Contributor recognition acknowledges individuals who share a substantive story, example, or insight that helps the Utah Responsible Artificial Intelligence Community Consortium learn from real-world uses of AI.
